What do I need to run Drover?

An iPhone on iOS 18 or later, a macOS or Linux host, and user-installed official Herdr that meets Drover’s capability floor.

Does Drover upload my repository?

No. Your repository, agent processes, credentials, and terminal sessions remain on your host.

Which platforms have a Drover app?

iPhone is the first client. Desk and iPad clients are deferred; macOS and Linux run only Drover Host, the small companion daemon.

What happens if my phone disconnects?

Command authority is suspended immediately. Foreground replaces and resyncs the transport before control returns; Drover never queues commands or retries ambiguous input.

Can a nickname replace my hostname?

No. The verified hostname remains visible anywhere host identity matters.

Is Drover free?

Yes, on one host. Every control surface works the same on your LAN or off-network, free, once you pair a single Mac or Linux host. Drover Pro is an optional subscription that adds every host beyond the first, push notifications, and the Live Activity.

Does Drover work when I'm not on my home network?

Yes. Drover tries your LAN first, then falls back to a direct WebRTC connection or an end-to-end encrypted relay that only ever forwards ciphertext — never a readable copy of your session.

Which AI coding agents does Drover support?

Claude Code and Codex get hooks for needs-you/done alerts, approvals, and usage. OpenCode, Gemini CLI, pi, and any plain shell run in Herdr panes as live terminals only, without alerts or approvals.

Can Drover approve or deny an agent's actions?

Yes, for Claude Code and Codex. Their permission requests appear as Inbox cards with Deny, Allow once, or Open. Nothing auto-approves.

Can I attach a photo or screenshot to a prompt?

Yes. Pick a photo or screenshot, mark it up (crop, markup, blur, text, redact), then attach it to a prompt. The picture uploads to your host when you send; the first upload to a host asks you to confirm the host and folder, and the host remembers that answer.

Do I need an account to use Drover?

No. Pairing is a QR code or a 14-character code between your iPhone and your own Mac or Linux machine — no account, no login, no open ports.

Is Drover a replacement for Herdr?

No. Herdr owns your sessions, workspaces, tabs, and panes on your machine. Drover is a native iPhone surface and a small host companion (droverd) that connects to the Herdr you already run.
